ACTRESS
I began my drama studies with an amateur theater company in Juiz de Fora in the mid-1990s. At that time, I participated in several productions, but it wasn't until 2007 that I turned professional.
When I started my Bachelor's degree in Performing Arts at UFMG, I had the honor of portraying the lead character in the theatrical production "The Son of a Bitch," written by renowned playwright Carla Guimarães. The play depicts the struggles of a single mother trying to survive in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro while also dealing with her teenage son's unexpected pregnancy. The production received widespread critical acclaim, winning the prestigious Shell Award for Best Text in Brazil and receiving a nomination for the APCA Award in the Best Author category, further highlighting the play's impact and quality within the Brazilian theater scene.
The production was directed by Mariana Muniz, a Full Professor in the Graduate and Undergraduate Theater Programs at UFMG, who has completed her Post-Doctoral research at the Universidad de Buenos Aires with Jorge Dubatti. She holds a PhD in Theater from the Universidad de Alcalá, and a degree in Gestural Interpretation from RESAD in Spain. Mariana is also the creator of FIMPRO - International Improvisation Festival and serves as the pedagogical coordinator of the Digital Theater Training Program of Theater in Motion.
