DRAMA TEACHER

As an instructor in the performing arts, my role was to provide comprehensive guidance in theatre, musical theatre, and improvisation. My approach involved introducing my students to a range of techniques and methodologies, with the aim of fostering a deep understanding of performance and helping them refine their skills.

As a theatre educator, I sought to instill in my students a reverence for the cultural history of the art form while also providing a strong theoretical and practical foundation in drama. Through my own methodology, which combined visual arts with theatre, I equipped students with the tools to create and develop their own artistic expression, becoming confident and expressive performers.

In addition to theatre instruction, I also focused on teaching musical theatre, an electrifying form of performance that incorporates drama, music, and dance. My guidance in this area covered voice, song interpretation, choreography, and stage movement training.

Furthermore, my expertise in improvisation allowed me to teach my students how to think quickly, collaborate effectively, and embrace spontaneity and creativity in their performances.

I believe that my unique approach to teaching, which includes the development of my own methodology, enables every child to sing, dance, and act on stage. In partnership with Patricia Marra, my business partner, we have successfully proven this in numerous musical productions. Throughout our 13-year career, we have achieved remarkable results with children and teenagers of all ages, including those with special needs, performing independently in internationally recognized musicals without adult assistance. We have always welcomed participants based on their passion for fulfilling their dreams of becoming performers, rather than through skill testing. Although our work has been praised by families, audiences, and the media, we unfortunately lack recognition and incentives from our country's education system.

Overall, my goal as an instructor in the performing arts has always been to inspire and empower my students to develop their talents and become expressive, skilled, and confident performers.

Teaching Experience

BH Broadway, Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil

Mar 2014 to Dec 2021

Department of Performing Arts

I taught the Musical Theater course to an average of 100 students per semester, covering topics such as acting, singing, dancing, improvisation, breathing techniques, theater theory, character creation, musicality, and study of dramatic texts. As part of the course evaluation, I developed quizzes, exams, and homework assignments that also served as a means of assigning roles to students. I encouraged the promotion of student work on social media platforms and promoted the creation of sketches, musical scenes, and flash mobs in smaller events with the aim of preparing students for larger audiences.

AME – Ação Mineira para Educação, Contagem, MG, Brazil

Feb 2011 to Dec 2012

Department of Arts

As an art teacher at AME - Mineira Action for Education, I had the opportunity to contribute to the social inclusion project called "Todos por Todos Aprendendo Além da Escola" (All for All Learning Beyond School). My role was to provide a comprehensive education in Theatre and Dance for approximately 100 underprivileged children per year.

It was my responsibility to develop and deliver theatre classes that were accessible and inclusive for a diverse group of students, including those with physical, intellectual, and/or emotional disabilities. I created a safe, respectful, and encouraging learning environment that allowed students to express themselves freely and feel included and valued. I worked with students to develop acting skills, improvisation, character creation, teamwork, and other theatre skills that certainly contributed to social inclusion and the formation of creative, critical, and socially aware individuals.

One of my most important projects culminated in a grand opera performance, with the presence of the State Orchestra of Minas Gerais, presented in one of the largest theaters in the capital: the Sesi Minas. Such a project happened in collaboration with other teachers and staff from the NGO who also aimed to promote social inclusion and equal opportunities for all students.

I am certain that my skills and creativity were essential to the success of the "Todos por Todos Aprendendo Além da Escola" project, approved by UNESCO and supported by "Criança Esperança" from Rede Globo.
